A street-side terrace planted above a dry-stone wall

The bank between the wall and the street had nothing holding it and nothing to look at. We set the planting out as a terrace, working with the existing stone rather than against it, and laid stepping stones so the bed can be reached for weeding without walking on the planting.

Shrubs give the bed structure through the winter, with catmint and low perennials carrying the colour through the warmer months. The whole bed is mulched to hold moisture in and keep the weeding down.
